Marrying in a Lisbon town hall owned location costs only 144? per hour

The Lisbon city government announced in July that eight of their locations would be made available for wedding celebrations. Further details about where and how these ceremonies are to be held can be found on the town hall website. Requests can be made starting tomorrow and the cost for rental of the location will be 144E per hour. Minimum duration allowable for a ceremony is two hours. Furthermore, the autarchy has also selected the rooms in the available buildings which will be available for these celebrations, as well as the number of guests they can hold. Paços do Concelho¹s main room was one of the locations included. With 100 seats available, it is the one that holds the most people. Runner up is the Fado Museum¹s auditorium with 90 seats, the Mitra Palace with 50 seats, and lastly the Espaço Monsanto and the City Museum both with 40. The City Museum includes an interior section as well as its gardens in the deal. The Beau Séjour Palace and the Quinta Pedagógica dos Olivais¹ bandstand can seat 20 people each.

Ferraria Spa on S. Miguel reopens to the public

The Azores Regional Government announced the contract for the refurbishment and upgrading of the Spa of Ferraria, in the town of Ginetes, S. Miguel. The spa reopened in June 2010 and its project involved the recovery of the old building and upgrading the baths and surrounding areas and includes access to the cliff.

American visitors are helping with the recovery of international tourism in Portugal.

The United States and Brazil, which only have connections to companies in Portugal called "traditional" markets that have contributed most to the recovery of international tourism in Portugal either in income or in guests and overnight stays in hotels, "overshadowing" the role of low cost carriers.

Algarve gears up for Surgical Vacations

A luxury hotel in Quinta do Lago, Algarve, is transforming itself into a destination for Portuguese, British and Dutch guests to recover from cancer treatments, cosmetic surgery or receive medical treatment in room. There are four private hospitals in the Algarve - located in Faro, Lagos and Alvor, who are investing in "Health Tourism"  through partnerships with hotels. That is a vacation that that combines "quality medical services" with a "pleasant climate and the idyllic landscapes of the Algarve" in which patients and family members can stay at hotels thanks to partnerships with local hotel chain, reads the site Internet from one of these hospitals. Between 20-30 percent of patients in the newly opened private hospital in the Algarve are strangers and seek the service of health tourism. At the hospitals of Santa Maria de Faro and São Gonçalo de Lagos, where they perform more than 3,000 surgeries per year, there is also a large percentage of customers who choose those units to perform various surgeries and outpatient care.  The bulk of patients on surgical holidays come from England, Holland and Germany, where medical treatments in private is between 30-50 percent more expensive than in Portugal, a country that offers the same quality service at more competitive prices.
