The Title of Oliveira, in the Land of Upper Douro (now the County Town of Mesão Frio) was given as an official reward by King D. Afonso V to Afonso de Mansilha, noble from Galicia, for services rendered to that monarch in Battle of Toro in 1476. The Galician nobleman went to live in Palace of Oliveira. The 7th grandchild of Afonso de Mansilha and his mate D. Catarina Rodrigues Borges, Maria de Figueiredo Mansilha Caetano Veloso, heiress of Commendery of Oliveira, married Dr. Jose Antonio de Souza e Faria, Nobleman, Knight of the Order of Christ the Judge of His Majesty the King Dom João V . Dr. Jose De Souza e Faria sixth-grandfather of actual owners, who built Casa das Torres de Oliveira in 1740 in the same place until then had remained for centuries, the ancient house of the family Mansilha. Its construction site was chosen due to the careful consideration, which allowed not only creating a vast agricultural property, with Port wine production as well as superb red and white table wines, which it sells under its own designation, but also enjoying a wonderful landscape, at the end of which one can see the Douro River meandering towards the sea.Porto e Norte Photo Gallery
