Wednesday, 20 October 2010 00:00
The Portuguese capital will serve as the stage for the first meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to be held in Portugal. Leaders of the 28 allied member nations, including the President of the United States, Barack Obama, and representatives of the Russian Federation will take part in this event. The summit will take place on 19 and 20 November in the Parque das Nações, where NATO’s strategic roadmap for the coming years will be defined, placing Lisbon at the heart of international politics. This will be the first visit made by the American president to the Portuguese capital, where he will also meet with representatives from the European Union, including the Presidents of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy, and the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso. That meeting will coincide with the NATO summit.Lisboa Photo Gallery
